The Fourth Meeting of the 14th Council of the Engineering Thermophysics Professional Committee of the China Association for Higher Education and the Academic Exchange on Renewable Energy Technologies, hosted by our college, was successfully held in Guangzhou, from November 3rd to 5th. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, Chen Liangyou, and Vice President Yu Lin were invited to attend the conference. They extended sincere welcome to the council members, experts, and scholars who attended the conference and engaged in extensive exchanges. Over 150 council members, experts, and scholars from 91 universities across the country participated in this event.
Yu Lin delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony, extending warm congratulations on the convening of the conference on behalf of the university. He introduced the history and discipline development of our school to the guests and expressed his hope that experts and scholars would continue to show concern and support for the development of the Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics discipline at Guangdong University of Technology. Secretary of Party Committee Yang Xiaofan and Vice Dean of school Luo Xianglong, among others, attended the opening ceremony.
Professor Shen Shengqiang, Director of the Engineering Thermophysics Professional Committee of the China Association for Higher Education and a faculty member of Dalian University of Technology, delivered a speech on behalf of the association. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university for hosting the conference, introduced the development history of the Engineering Thermophysics Professional Committee, and outlined the future direction of the discipline in the context of high-quality energy development. The Fourth Meeting of the 14th Council that followed summarized the annual work of the professional committee in 2023 and discussed matters such as the addition of new council members and the hosting of national academic conferences in 2024 and 2025.
The conference focused on talent cultivation, teaching reform, and academic research in the field of engineering thermophysics, inviting six renowned domestic scholars to deliver keynote speeches. On November 4th, Professor He Yaling, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a faculty member of Xi'an Jiaotong University, presented a keynote speech entitled "Exploration and Practice of Cultivating Innovative and Outstanding Talents in Energy Storage in the Context of a New Energy System." Professor Wang Tianyou, Vice President of Tianjin University, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Exploration and Practice of Cultivating Innovative and Outstanding Talents in Mechanical Engineering under the Background of Emerging Engineering Education," which delved into talent cultivation and teaching reform in the field of engineering thermophysics.
On the 5th, Professor Wang Fuchen from East China University of Science and Technology delivered a keynote speech entitled "Application and Progress of Carbonaceous Waste Resource Utilization Technology." Professor Luo Xiaobing from Huazhong University of Science and Technology presented a keynote speech entitled "Research on Thermal Management of Electronic Devices in Extreme Thermal Environments." Professor Wang Shurong from Zhejiang University gave a keynote speech "Research on the Hydrothermal Conversion of Biomass and Organic Solid Waste to High-Value Fuels." Professor Luo Xianglong from Guangdong University of Technology presented a keynote speech "Research on Waste Heat Coupled with Carnot Battery Energy Storage Technology." These speeches delved into technical barriers and efficient energy utilization in the field of engineering thermophysics.
During the conference, experts and scholars were invited to visit the laboratories of the School of Materials and Energy at Daxuecheng campus of our university and engaged in in-depth exchanges.
The success of this conference facilitated academic exchanges and educational and teaching reforms in the field of power engineering and engineering thermophysics among universities, had a positive impact on promoting the exchange and development of renewable energy in China, and further enhanced the academic influence of our university's power engineering and engineering thermophysics discipline.
